Kiwanis Club of Lakewood Named Grand Marshals of the 2022 Lakewood Fourth of July ParadeJune 28, 2022
Lakewood Mayor Meghan F. George today announced that the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood will serve as the grand marshals for the city’s annual Fourth of July parade.
The parade is scheduled to step off on Lake Avenue at Kenneth Drive at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022, and conclude at Lakewood Park.
The Kiwanis Club of Lakewood is celebrating its 100th anniversary of service to the Lakewood community. In 1921, this service organization began a lengthy legacy to Lakewood’s children. Since 1954, the Lakewood Kiwanis Club has given over $2.7 million dollars in college scholarships to high school seniors who live in Lakewood. In addition, the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood donated the picnic pavilion at Lakewood Park, raised the funds for the all-weather track at Lakewood High School Stadium, and donated the illuminated community sign in front of the former Board of Education Building on Warren Road. In addition, the Kiwanis Club also supports four K-Kids Clubs in the elementary schools as well as Builders Club at Harding and the Key Club at Lakewood High School. They also have distributed thousands of free books to preschool and elementary school children.
“The Kiwanis Club of Lakewood has been serving the residents of Lakewood for over 100 years,” said Mayor Meghan F. George. “We are proud to have them serve as the grand marshals of the parade this year and want to honor their tireless work in the community. The Lakewood Kiwanis Club’s generosity towards the betterment of Lakewood is an inspiration to us all.”
Joining in the parade will be musical favorites, the Lakewood High School Ranger Marching Band, St. Edward High School Marching Band, the Lochaber Pipe Band and Red Hackle Pipe Band.
At.7:00 p.m., the Lakewood Project, Lakewood High School’s Youth Rock Orchestra, will perform at the Bandstand at Lakewood Park.
The Fourth of July will conclude following Lakewood’s annual fireworks extravaganza, set to begin at approximately 9:45 p.m.
