At Large:

Sarah Kepple began serving on Lakewood City Council on February 18, 2020 when Council unanimously appointed her to complete the remainder of the term vacated by Mayor George. As an experienced community organizer, longtime public servant, local entrepreneur and engaged resident, Sarah brings a unique combination of skills, perspective, and dedication that enables her to serve all Lakewood residents as At-Large Council Member.

Being the daughter of two public school teachers, Sarah also found that she was called to public service. She first served in the Children’s and Youth Services Department at Lakewood Public Library and then continued her career at Cuyahoga County Public Library, where she created and implemented many new, innovative programs. In 2014, Sarah founded Gigalearn, a technology education company that works with schools, libraries and community centers. As a volunteer lead organizer for Action Together Lakewood Area, Sarah united previously divided community groups around common purposes and collaborated with many other grassroots organizations. She organized a number of community events, including the No Hate in Lakewood Rally at Lakewood City Center Park in response to swastikas that were graffitied on a Belle Avenue property. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kent State University and a Master of Library and Information Science from Drexel University.

Sarah understands the critical role of local government, institutions and spaces in the lives of citizens. She has worked with diverse populations and is adept at meeting constituents where they are, at resolving conflict with courtesy and communication, and at helping folks attain the resources they need. As a Councilperson, these critical interpersonal skills will enable her to hear and respond to citizens, public employees, and colleagues.

After renting in Lakewood for a number of years, Sarah and her husband Andrew bought a home on Summit Avenue in 2007, where they live with family members Emma (future Lakewood High School graduate) and Henry and Tonks (cats).
