The mission of the Department of Finance is to maintain and strengthen the fiscal integrity of the City of Lakewood, and to provide exceptional, yet efficient, customer service. Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports+-
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is a prepared annually by the Finance Department. The report is a summary of the City’s financial transactions.
An annual audit of the City’s finances is performed either by the State of Ohio Auditor’s Office, or by an approved certified public accountant, to verify that public funds are spent appropriately and lawfully. The final report is delivered by June 30th following the close of the year.
The City has been the recipient of multiple awards for the accuracy of its financial reporting. The prestigious, Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, award has been presented to the City for over 35 consecutive years.
Also, the City has consistently been the recipient of the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction. This award is presented for excellence in financial reporting for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and a “clean” audit report.

A: The office is open during regular City Hall hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

A: No, property tax is collected through the Cuyahoga County Treasurer’s office. The office is located in the Administration building at 2079 East 9th Street, Cleveland, OH 44115. The phone number is (216) 443-7010.
Q: How am I able to pay an invoice I have received from the Finance Department?
A: Payments may be paid in person at the Finance Department during regular office hours using cash, check, money order or debit/credit card. You may also make a payment with a debit/credit card over the phone by calling (216) 529-6095.

A: The city does periodically sell its old street signs. Residents are notified through social media when signs are available and how to purchase them.
