The Division of Aging was established in 1973 to provide a continuum of responsive services to Lakewood’s older residents.
The Lakewood Division of Aging provides programs, services and activities which enhance the lives of older adults by encouraging them to live dignified, independent and productive lives in our community.
This is accomplished through administration of service programs in five core areas:

Transportation Services+-
Non-Medical Transportation
Vans are available to transport Lakewood residents to Cove and for recreation and social events.
In addition, special trips are made to local grocery and shopping destinations and Lakewood Community Services Center.

Medical Transportation
Medical Transportation can be scheduled three weeks ahead of a medical appointment and no later than three business days prior to a medical appointment.

Served to individuals 60 and older attending the center, Monday through Friday.- Monthly menus are posted at the center and in the monthly newsletter
- Reservations are to be completed by noon on Wednesdays the week prior
- Reservations may be made by phone or using “My Senior Center” system
HOME DELIVERED MEALS
Lakewood Residents who are age 60 and older and homebound.- One meal a day will be delivered between the hours of 10:30AM and 12:30PM, Monday through Friday
- Volunteers deliver the meals and are unable to leave meals if the participant is not home
- Excessive failure to not cancel or be home to accept the meal may impact continued enrollment in the program

Social Work & Supportive Services+-
Supportive Services offered to seniors and caregivers including:
- Accessing services, resources and benefits
- Coordinating delivery of services of nutrition and transportation options offered by the Division of Aging
- Assistance with OSHIP & Medicare
- Referrals to Community Services & Programs

Volunteers of all ages are needed for:
- Delivering meals to the homebound
- Programs/Activities
- Kitchen help

Q: Is this the county?
A: No. This is the City of Lakewood. Q: My mother can no longer function independently and is unable to care for herself. Who can I call?
A: Please call the Division of Aging Supportive Services at (216) 521-1515 or contact Cuyahoga County Department of Senior and Adult Services at (216) 420-6700.
Q: What is available for an older person who can no longer drive and has no formal support system for transportation?
A: Please call the Division of Aging at (216) 521-1515. The Division of Aging offers transportation for Lakewood seniors, 60 and over to medical appointments, senior centers, grocery shopping, special events and public benefits.
Q: I have to relocate and I don’t know where to begin. What housing information is available?
A: Please call the Division of Aging Supportive Services at(216) 521-1515. Division of Aging Supportive Services provide resources and information on affordable housing, subsidized housing, housing with assistance for seniors and other housing alternatives.
Q: Insurance and the Medicare changes are so confusing. Who can assist me with insurance and navigating the health care insurance system?

Q: I have recently retired and would like something to do to keep busy. Who can I talk to?
A: Please call the Division of Aging at (216) 521-1515. The Division of Aging operates a Senior Center and meal site with various activities, programs, events and trips as well as volunteer opportunities. Additionally, the city’s website has a volunteer page listing many non-profit organizations which offer volunteer opportunities.
