Lakewood Family Room Programs

The Lakewood Family Room is a program from Lakewood’s Department of Human Services. All programs are free to Lakewood residents. We welcome parents, grandparents, nannies, and any other caregiver with their children aged birth to 8. Adults must stay with their child at all times. Programs are facilitated by an Early Childhood educator and volunteer staff. Participants are expected to adhere to current COVID-19 federal, state and local guidelines and health orders.

Lakewood Family Room Fall 2022

Mondays:

3 to 7 PM – Family Room Evening Drop In

Drop in anytime between 3 and 7 PM for our evening program. This time is suitable for ages birth to 8. Space available for older children to read, play board games, or do homework. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

5:30 to 8 PM (10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24 & 11/7)

Active Parenting Class for those with children birth to 5 years old. Learn how to nurture a child with a “just right” combination of freedom and nonviolent discipline. Free child care and meal provided. RSVP to Evan Meredith, 216-529-6042 or evan.meredith@lakewoodoh.net.

Tuesdays:

9 to 11 AM – Toddler Tuesdays

Tuesday mornings are for toddlers! Join us 9 to 11 AM for free play. We ask that families have at least one under three for this drop in program.

3 to 5 PM – After School Drop In

Join us after school to unwind before dinner. This time is suitable for ages birth to 8. Space available for older children to read, play board games, or do homework. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wednesdays:

10 to Noon – Parent and Lactation Support for Infants

Are you a new parent? Then you probably have questions. Wednesdays are for babies under one and their mothers. We support moms, birth parents, foster parents, those who are breastfeeding, chest feeding, supplementing, pumping, and formula feeding. We support how you feed your baby! A licensed lactation counselor and post-partum doula is on hand to help. Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, we are here to help!

Join us after school to unwind before dinner. This time is suitable for ages birth to 8. Space available for older children to read, play board games, or do homework. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Thursdays:

9 to Noon (Storytime 10 AM on certain days – in September 8th, 22nd, and 29th) – Drop In and Play

Come join us on Thursday mornings for unstructured play and conversation. This time is for babies to preschoolers. We will have coffee for the grown ups and a snack for the kids.

Fridays:

9:30 to 11 AM – Learn Thru Play

Structured activities around a monthly theme that promote learning through play. Each Friday features new activities designed for caregivers and children to do together.

11:30 to 1 PM – Preschool Lunch Bunch

Pack a lunch and join us after morning preschool for lunch and play.

Cove Park is just North of the train tracks on Cove.

*** The Lakewood Family Room is a program from the City of Lakewood’s Department of Human Services. The Family Room is closed on all city holidays including Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. ***
