Lakewood Family Room Programs

The Lakewood Family Room is a program from Lakewood’s Department of Human Services. All programs are free to Lakewood residents. We welcome parents, grandparents, nannies, and any other caregiver with their children aged birth to 8. Adults must stay with their child at all times. Programs are facilitated by an Early Childhood educator and volunteer staff. Participants are expected to adhere to current COVID-19 federal, state and local guidelines and health orders.

After School Drop In
Mondays  3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (beginning 4/25)

A place for families to spend the after school hours connecting and unwinding. Activities and spaces for kids from birth to 8 and their caregiver. Follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for special events including parent education, service projects, and intergenerational programs. Homework help available.

Drop In & Play Evenings
Mondays 5:30 – 7:30 PM (beginning 4/25)

Have you felt left out because you can’t attend our morning programming? Here’s your chance. Monday evenings the Family Room will be open for family play and connection. You’ll find something to do for children birth to 8. Follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for special events including parent education, PJ story times, service projects, and intergenerational programs.

Toddler Tuesday
Tuesdays 9:30 -11:30 AM (beginning 4/26)

The Family Room is open just for our little ones on Tuesday mornings. Babies and toddlers and their grown ups will have the room to themselves for free play and exploration. Coffee is always on for the adults and we end the morning with a snack.

New Parent & Lactation Support
Wednesdays 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM (beginning 4/20)

Do you have a new baby at home? Kristen Bindel, Doula and Certified Lactation Counselor, facilitates this group for those with babies under the age of one. Meet other new parents, share advice, and get hands on lactation support in a friendly and comfortable environment.

Drop In & Play Mornings
Thursdays 10:00 AM – Noon (beginning 4/21)

For children birth to five and their grown ups. The Lakewood Family Room is open for unstructured play! Parents, Grandparents, Nannies and all types of caregivers are welcome to drop in and let their children play.  Coffee is always on for the adults and we end the morning with a snack.

Learn Thru Play
Fridays 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM

Ms. Brenda brings engaging, easy to replicate, FUN activities to do with your child to the Family Room on Friday mornings. Pre-literacy, math, science, and art stations centered around a rotating, monthly theme will fill our space. Explore the activities with your child birth to 5 and find new ways to learn through play time.
