Social Work & Supportive Services
According to the 2010 US Census, Lakewood is home to an estimated 8,338 people age 60 and older. This represents 16 percent of the city’s total population. As this cohort of Lakewood’s population continues to age, its members have increasing need for resources and support that help preserve their independence and dignity.
The city offers Social Work & Supportive Services to help seniors and their families access needed resources and coordinates delivery of core services, including nutrition and transportation options offered by Lakewood’s Division of Aging. The city’s Social Work and Supportive Services have become a critical source of support for, and make a significant contribution to our senior citizens’ physical and mental health, and sustained independence in daily life.
