Lakewood Police Department Promotes Three Officers

Today, Mayor Michael Summers announced the promotion of three members of the Lakewood Police Department.

After a testing process consisting of written assessment and situational interviews conducted by the Civil Service Commission, Police Chief Tim Malley made his recommendations for promotions to Mayor Summers.

“The promotion of supervisors is always a significant event for the Lakewood Police Department,” commented Chief Timothy J. Malley. “Each and every officer has excelled in their commitment to the citizens of Lakewood and the Lakewood Police Department and I look forward to working with each of them in their new assignments. The Lakewood Police Department is well situated with these promotions to offer superior and stable leadership in the years to come.”

Mayor Summers promoted the following individuals to leadership positions:

Captain Leslie Wilkins: Wilkins is a 34-year veteran of the Lakewood Police Department and has served as a Lieutenant since 2011. She will lead the Traffic and Patrol Division.

Lieutenant William Albrecht: Albrecht is a 23-year veteran of the Lakewood Police Department. As Lieutenant, he will serve as the night shift commander.

Sergeant Robert Minteer: Minteer has served 11- and one-half years on the Lakewood Police Department. He will serve as a Sergeant of the night shift, A Platoon.

At the promotion ceremony, Mayor Summers thanked the officers for their commitment to the City, congratulated them for their achievement, and encouraged them to keep striving.

“To our new leaders, I challenge you to push the department to even higher levels of integrity and performance. I know you’ll do that” said Mayor Summers. “On behalf of the City of Lakewood, I thank all of you for the service that you provide today and in the future.”
