Entry Level Patrol Officer Exam

The Lakewood Civil Service Commission will be conducting an examination for Entry-Level Patrol Officer through the National Testing Network. Go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, click on Law Enforcement, and choose Ohio then City of Lakewood.

What you will find at the National Testing Network website:

  • Information on the application and testing process for the entry-level exam.
  • Review of all information related to the City of Lakewood police officer position, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
  • Opportunities to take online practice tests.
  • Convenient scheduling. Tests are offered multiple times per week (including Saturdays) at conveniently located testing sites. COVID-19 restrictions are in place at all testing sites; testing availability may be limited. Virtual testing is also available.
  • High-quality job simulation tests administered in a standardized, fair testing environment.

Applicants are required to complete the exam, personal history questionnaire (PHQ) and work attitudes questionnaire (WAQ), as well as upload their diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, physical agility certificate, and any documentation for additional credit. Deadline to submit required documents is Monday, January 31, 2022.

Online registration to obtain the Cuyahoga Community College Physical Agility Certificate is available at https://www.tri-c.edu/workforce/public-safety/law-enforcement/index.html. Once registered, you will be contacted with your scheduled test date and time. Upcoming test dates are November 14, 2021, December 12, 2021, and January 23, 2022.  If you have questions regarding the certificate, please contact Cuyahoga Community College at 216‑987-3033.

Test scores will be forwarded to the City of Lakewood Civil Service Commission.  Candidates earning the minimum passing score of 70% and possessing a valid Cuyahoga Community College Physical Agility Certificate will be placed on the eligible list.  The City of Lakewood Civil Service Commission will contact candidates on the eligible list to invite them to continue with the selection process.
