Groundskeeper (Part-Time)

The City of Lakewood is currently seeking a PART-TIME Groundskeeper in its Parks division. This position has variable hours and locations and is an AFSCME Bargaining Unit position, with an hourly rate of $25.40 – 26.78 + shift premium when applicable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must possess the ability to work on your own with little or no supervision; must possess good communication skills; must be able to deal with the public in a professional manner; must have the ability to communicate clearly by telephone and radio; must be willing and able to learn all facets of the operations of the Division of Parks; must have the ability to lift 90 lbs. from floor to shoulder on a daily basis; must have the ability to perform strenuous labor; must be able to work from ladders; must be able to stand for long periods of time; must have adequate arm, wrist, hand and finger strength to perform frequent gripping and carrying of heavy objects; must have good cleaning skills for restrooms and Woman’s Club Pavilion; must have the ability to work in all weather conditions; must be able to plow snow; must have the ability to drive all types of trucks and other equipment; must have the ability to create and maintain landscaping and bio-swales; must have the ability to use weedeaters, blowers, push mowers, etc.; requires basic computer skills for looking up schedules, timekeeping and e-mail.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with less than eight (8) points.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a drug screen and police background investigation with fingerprinting.
  • May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Employee may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement.
