Maintenance Worker – Waste Water Treatment Plant

The City of Lakewood is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). This full-time, Union position works rotating shifts.

Qualified candidates will:

  • Possess above average mechanical ability and have the ability to use standard power and manually operated tools;
  • Have the ability to setup and operate lathes and milling machines;
  • Have the ability to make general plumbing repairs using ductile, copper and PVC piping up to 24 inches in diameter as well as perform general concrete and carpentry repairs;
  • Be able to perform maintenance on small gasoline engines, perform minor electrical repairs, install conduit and wiring;
  • Be able to repair defective WWTP process equipment and perform preventive maintenance on WWTP process equipment;
  • Be able to safely operate an industrial lift truck;
  • Have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. on occasion, work off of ladders and platforms, stand for extended periods of time on various work surfaces and perform daily physical labor, working safely with and around chemicals; and
  • Be able to work in atmospheres containing fumes and pungent odors
  • Be able to work independently with little to no supervision.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Have a valid Ohio Drivers’ License with less than eight (8) points.
  • Must obtain an Ohio EPA Class I Wastewater Operator’s certification within 36 months of appointment.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a physical examination with drug testing and police background investigation.

 Per Hour Rate:                 $28.80 – $29.38 + shift differential

 Normal Work Hours:         ROTATING SHIFTS weekends and Holidays required
